Virginia Golf: Cavaliers Stand 8th After Windy City Classic Rounds

VirginiaS Elena Swedick concluded 36 holes atop the leaderboard at the Windy City Collegiate Classic, carding a two-round total of 140 to lead the Cavaliers through Tuesday’s play. The tournament, hosted by Northwestern at the Exmoor Country Club in Highland Park, Illinois, showcases a competitive field of collegiate golfers.

Swedick’s performance anchors Virginia‘s team score as they navigate a challenging course and seek to build momentum early in the 2024-25 season. The Cavaliers finished the first day of competition with a team total of 593, placing them among the top teams in the 48-player field. This event is crucial for Virginia as they prepare for the remainder of their fall schedule and aim for a strong showing in the upcoming ACC Championships.

The cavaliers saw strong contributions across the board. Jaclyn LaHa and Mira Berglund both finished the day tied for 40th place with a score of 148,each improving their game throughout the day. Elsie MacCleery finished with a score of 151, while Rebecca dibitetto finished with a score of 153.

Swedick began the tournament with a round of 72, followed by a 68 in the second round, demonstrating consistency and resilience. Remi Bacardi finished with a score of 143, placing her in 16th place. Virginia will continue competition Wednesday, September 25, 2024, with the final round of play.
