Virginia Colleges Locked Down Amid Threat Concerns

Virginia⁢ HBCUs on Lockdown Following Threat⁣ Reports

ETTRICK, VA – Several Virginia colleges ⁣adn universities initiated lockdowns and canceled classes Thursday morning following reports of potential threats.Both Virginia State University (VSU) ⁣and Hampton University, both Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), are affected.

Virginia State⁤ University announced an abrupt campus closure in an email to ⁣students and staff. “Due to a potential threat, Virginia State University is currently on lockdown,” the message read. “All students ⁢who are on campus should remain indoors, and those off⁣ campus should not come to campus at this time. All classes have ‌been canceled, and ​all VSU employees are instructed to ⁤work remotely.” University officials stated they would provide further updates as information becomes available.Hampton University is also responding to a similar threat, though details remain scarce. While officials ⁣have not disclosed the nature of the potential danger, all non-essential activities, including classes and campus events, have been canceled‍ for both​ Thursday and friday.
