Vinicius Contract Extension Nears Completion with real Madrid After Period of Discord
After a period marked by strained relations with coach Xabi Alonso and uncertainty surrounding his future, Vinicius Jr. is reportedly on the verge of signing a contract extension with Real Madrid.
The Brazilian forward’s role at the club shifted following Alonso’s arrival, moving from an undisputed starter under Carlo Ancelotti to a player facing more frequent substitutions and time on the bench. This change in status sparked internal friction within the team.
Tensions reached a peak during Real Madrid’s victory over FC Barcelona in El Clásico. Visibly frustrated by being substituted,Vinicius reacted with anger,leaving the field and reportedly confronting Alonso with verbal criticism. Following the incident, he paused all negotiations regarding a new contract, which currently runs until 2027.
Though, the atmosphere has substantially improved in recent weeks, particularly after a dramatic 4-3 Champions League win against Olympiakos.According to a report in Sport World, Vinicius is now close to reaching an agreement with Real Madrid’s management.
A key factor in the progress appears to be Vinicius’ willingness to compromise on his salary expectations. He had initially sought a wage comparable to, or exceeding, that of kylian Mbappé, but has now accepted a revised offer.
Crucially, the relationship between Vinicius and Alonso has been repaired. Vinicius issued an apology to Alonso and the team for his conduct,which was accepted. Alonso publicly affirmed the improved dynamic, stating, “We trust each other, we talk before matches. He knows what I think, I know what he thinks. This is the best way to make decisions together.” This reconciliation has paved the way for renewed optimism regarding a contract extension for the key Real Madrid attacker.
