Vincennes RDC Advances Housing Rehabilitation Program with Agreement Approval
VINCENNES, IN – The Vincennes Redevelopment Commission (RDC) took a significant step toward addressing local housing needs Thursday by approving a professional services agreement and outlining details for a new Housing Rehabilitation Program position. The move paves the way for the program’s launch and the revitalization of properties within the city.
The program, spearheaded by RDC members Steve Blinn and Marc McNeece, aims to acquire, develop, and rehabilitate housing stock in Vincennes. Modeled after a similar initiative in Pittsboro, the 12-month position will require close collaboration with the RDC, city engineer, and city inspector, going beyond customary contracting work. the initiative responds to a growing need for improved housing options and aims to stimulate investment in the community.
Blinn presented the drafted agreement to the board, detailing applicant requirements and program commitments. He noted preliminary interest from three potential candidates, with a formal request period expected to open following the agreement’s approval. The process will include interviews and background checks.
“We’ve got it to a point where we need to move forward,” Blinn stated during the meeting, afterward motioning for the board’s approval.
The RDC unanimously approved the professional services agreement, with Tim Smith absent. Applications for the Housing Rehabilitation Program position will be accepted for a period of two weeks.
The next RDC meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m.on October 16 at City Hall.
