Vince Staples Hilariously Roasts Fan Marketing pitches for ‘The Vince Staples Show’ season 2
Long Beach rapper Vince Staples engaged with his social media followers this week, soliciting ideas for marketing the upcoming second season of his Netflix show, “The Vince Staples Show,” and responded with characteristic wit-and a healthy dose of playful criticism. The exchange unfolded on X (formerly Twitter) leading up to a marketing meeting scheduled for Monday, October 20.
The interaction provides a glimpse into Staples’ unique brand of humor and his direct connection with fans as anticipation builds for the show’s November 6 premiere. Season 2 will follow Staples “on a wild journey in search of inner peace” following a death, according to Deadline, with Vanessa Bell Calloway and Naté Jones returning and Zack Fox joining as a guest star. The show’s premise, based on the realities of daily life, allows for possibly “365 episodes,” Staples told Netflix’s Tudum.
One fan suggested promotional rolling papers, referencing Staples’ asthma, prompting the rapper to retort, “If you plan to get high in honor of the show, crack is the minimum.” Another proposed behind-the-scenes footage, to which Staples conceded he liked the idea of bloopers-potentially offering fans a look at “me in the rain holding coffee.” A suggestion to distribute T-shirts drew the response, ”If we catch anybody bootlegging merchandise, we [are] sending you to Uncle Charles.”
When a fan offered to purchase the show on disc, Staples joked about preserving physical media, stating, “We have to keep physical media alive because one day, the white people will tell us ‘Living Single’ didn’t exist.” He later clarified the comment as sarcasm. Staples shared the exchange as he prepared for his marketing meeting, signaling a continued commitment to engaging with his audience as the show prepares for its second season launch.
