Villa Beer,a historic Vienna landmark,is nearing completion of a renovation poised to transform the building into a modern cultural hub. The project, focused on adapting the extended basement, will offer spaces for architectural tours, music events, dance performances, readings, and symposia.
Originally built in 1910, villa Beer underwent significant alterations over time. The recent renovation, completed with careful consideration for historical preservation-including securing an exceptional permit to replant twelve-metre-tall robinia trees-aims to revitalize the property while respecting its legacy. The dilapidated garden has been redesigned by Maria Auböck, with a full restoration of its original size planned to be realized through imaginative landscaping starting in Spring 2026.the basement adaptation will house lounges, cloakrooms, sanitary facilities, and other amenities to support the villa’s new role as a center for cultural activity. Numerous old trees within the garden were preserved during the redesign. Parts of the original garden were sold over time, and Auböck’s design will work to recapture the garden’s former grandeur.
