Victoria announces 13-Man Squad for Dean Jones Trophy, Handscomb & Emerging Bats Return

Melbourne, Australia – Victoria has named its 13-player squad for Tuesday’s Dean Jones Trophy match against Western Australia at the CitiPower Centre. The announcement comes ahead of a crucial week of cricket for the Victorian men’s team, which includes a four-day Sheffield Shield clash before the upcoming Big Bash League break.

the squad features the return of several key players, including Campbell Kellaway, Oliver Peake, adn peter Handscomb, all of whom recently participated in the Prime Minister’s XI match against England. This match provides a vital chance for Victoria to build momentum and refine its strategy before the BBL hiatus, while the Dean Jones Trophy represents a significant rivalry and a chance to showcase the team’s progress.

Fast bowlers Cam McClure and Xavier Crone are also available for selection, having recently represented the CA XI against England in Perth. With regular captain Will Sutherland rested, Matt Short will captain the side for the fourth time this season.

Victorian Men’s Head Coach Chris Rogers emphasized the team’s readiness. “Its always a big occasion when Victoria plays Western Australia. There’s a strong modern rivalry and both sides take great pride in the contest,” Rogers said. “For us,it’s a huge week. We took some significant lessons out of last week, and the group is hungry to apply them and finish strongly heading into the BBL break.”
