French Singer Vianney Building Cabin with Help From 4-Year-Old Son Amidst Personal Reset
French singer-songwriter Vianney is making significant progress on a self-built cabin project, sharing updates with his 700,000 YouTube subscribers and documenting the process on Instagram. The project comes after the 34-year-old artist announced a desire for solitude and a change of pace, revealing he “wasn’t doing well” and needed to prioritize his well-being.
Vianney, married to cellist Catherine Robert as July 2020, is undertaking the construction with his family, relocating temporarily to a cabin a few hundred meters from their home. His 4-year-old son, Edgar – born in October 2021 – is actively involved, assisting with tasks like cutting boards. Vianney acknowledges the challenges of building with no prior experience, stating, “I go from difficulty to difficulty. But that’s exactly what I was looking for.”
The cabin project represents a deliberate shift for the artist, from “producing” to “building,” driven by a need for inner peace and a connection with nature. He explained to fans that the change was “no longer a choice” but a necessity to remain “standing, free and myself.” Vianney reports feeling improved already, despite the approaching colder weather, and anticipates the project will continue for some time.
