Bilal El Khannouss of VfB Stuttgart has secured his place in the 2026 World Cup, leading Morocco to qualification with a 5-0 victory over Niger. The win places the North African team atop African qualification Group E with eight points, guaranteeing their participation in the tournament hosted in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.El Khannouss, a recent addition to VfB Stuttgart, entered the match in the 67th minute with Morocco already leading 3-0. This qualification follows Morocco’s surprising semi-final run at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Another VfB Stuttgart player, Medin Demirovic, also experienced success in World Cup qualification this weekend. Bosnia-Herzegovina, with Demirovic in the lineup, defeated San Marino 6-0, maintaining a perfect record of four wins in as manny games and leading their qualifying group. Demirovic was substituted out in the 62nd minute and did not contribute to the scoring.Additionally, VfB defender Finn Jeltsch participated in a 2-0 test match victory for the german U21 team against Albania. Jeltsch, along with goalkeeper Dennis Seimen (currently on loan to SC Paderborn), was substituted at halftime. Germany’s U21 team will continue their European Championship qualification campaign Tuesday evening against Latvia.
