VDL Consolidates Bus Operations, Fully Integrating Van Hool Brand
Brussels – VDL Bus Group is streamlining its operations, bringing all bus activities, including those of the acquired Van Hool, under a single entity ahead of the Busworld 2025 trade fair next month. The move signifies a major step in the integration following VDL’s acquisition of Van hool’s bus division after the Belgian manufacturer’s bankruptcy last year.
The Dutch industrial group VDL will operate with two distinct brands – VDL and Van Hool – each maintaining its own identity, expertise, and market focus, according to a press release issued Thursday. VDL buses for public transport will continue to be built in Roeselare, while VDL touring cars are produced in Valkenswaard, Netherlands, near Eindhoven. Van Hool touring cars are currently rolling in Northern Macedonia from the factory that transitioned to VDL ownership post-bankruptcy.
While bus production has ceased at the former Van Hool headquarters in Koningshooikt, near Lier, activities continue there. VDL states the consolidation aims to “bundle the forces of both companies to create a solid foundation for further growth, innovation and customer focus on the European and North American bus market.”
The integration includes a new coach set to be unveiled at Busworld 2025, marking a key milestone for the newly structured VDL Bus Group.
