Valence-sur-Baïse’s Couloupitchou Center Earns Écocentre Label, Charts Course for Environmental Education
Valence-sur-Baïse, Gers – November 19, 2025 – The Couloupitchou center in Valence-sur-Baïse has been officially recognized for its commitment to sustainability, receiving the Écocentre label at a November 19th event hosted by the Centre Intercommunal d’Action sociale (CIAS). The award acknowledges the center’s dedication to integrating environmental awareness into its daily operations and educational programs for children.
The labellisation, a collaborative effort between the CPIE Pays Gersois, the Pierre et Terre association, and the Service Départemental à la Jeunesse, signifies a growing movement within the Gers department to prioritize ecological and energy transitions in youth education. Approximately thirty representatives from various local leisure centers attended the meeting to share best practices and collaboratively define future initiatives. This focus is crucial as communities seek to equip the next generation with the knowledge and skills needed to address environmental challenges.
during the event, CIAS President Maurice Boison and Directeur Académique des services de l’Éducation Nationale (Dasen) Farid Djemmal presented the Écocentre label to the Couloupitchou team. The recognition highlights the center’s efforts to foster a enduring surroundings that supports the well-being of the children it serves.
Looking ahead, participants unanimously selected “Patrimoine et solidarité” (Heritage and Solidarity) as the overarching theme for the 2026-2027 school year, signaling a continued commitment to holistic education that connects environmental responsibility with community values. The CIAS will continue to support thes initiatives, fostering a network of environmentally conscious leisure centers throughout the region.
