Utah State Softball: Bunton RBI Single Advances Runners
RENO, Nev. – A single by Alex Bunton in the first inning drove in Kya Pratt, giving Utah State a 1-0 lead over Nevada in a Mountain West softball matchup on Saturday, March 22, 2026, at Hixson Park.
The run, scored on a 3-1 count, also advanced Kaylee Erickson to second base, setting the stage for further scoring opportunities for the Aggies. Utah State entered the game with a 21-15 overall record and a 6-2 mark in Mountain West play, following a recent sweep of Modern Mexico.
Kya Pratt has been a key offensive force for Utah State, recently delivering a series of impactful hits against the Lobos. In that series, Pratt homered twice, doubled twice, and recorded seven RBIs across a Wednesday doubleheader. She hit a two-run homer in the second game, and a clutch run-scoring double in the seventh of the opener, ultimately sending that game into extra innings.
The Aggies opened Mountain West play with a decisive win at Fresno State on March 14, 2026, with contributions from Erickson and Pratt. Erickson had an RBI double, and both she and Pratt scored on subsequent at-bats, extending the team’s scoring in that contest.
Despite their strong start to conference play, Utah State suffered a 6-2 loss on the weekend, with the tying run left on base in the top of the seventh inning. A popup by Alex Bunton with the bases loaded ended the game, preventing a potential comeback.
