ODESSA, Texas – Student-athletes at The University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) are now benefiting from a state-of-the-art Nutrition Center, providing them with the resources necessary to optimize their recovery and performance. The center, offering free protein shakes and healthy snacks, is the result of a significant donation from Cindy and Homer Daniels.
The new facility is already making a noticeable impact, according to Jared Heumann, Director of Strength and Conditioning at UTPB. “Recovery is the biggest thing,” Heumann explained. “We preach recovery by going into the training room as well, and having the Nutrition Center helps speed up the process as much as we possibly can.”
The availability of free nutritional support is a key component of the center’s success. Student-athletes now have convenient access to the fuel they need to replenish and rebuild after rigorous training and competition.
“For Coach McCullough to come up and say this is something that’s very needed at this university,” said Homer Daniels, Donor. “That struck a chord with my wife and me. We wanted to invest in that, and now we’re seeing the fruits of that labor.”
Mr.Daniels emphasized that the decision to donate was straightforward, driven by a desire to support the health and well-being of UTPB’s student-athletes. The Nutrition Center is strategically located within the weight room at the Kirk Edwards Human Performance Center on campus, ensuring easy access for all athletes.
