USA Sevens Eagles Win Uruguay SVNS 2 & Secure World Championship Series Spot
MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay – The USA Men’s Eagles Sevens team secured first place at the HSBC SVNS Uruguay 2026 tournament on Sunday, completing an undefeated run through the competition and qualifying for the HSBC SVNS World Championship Series in Hong Kong, Valladolid, and Bordeaux. The Eagles capped their dominant performance with a 29-5 victory over Germany in the final match.
The team’s success in Montevideo builds on a second-place finish at the opening stop of the series in Nairobi, Kenya last month. Head Coach Zack Test has seen slight roster adjustments, welcoming debutants Aaron Faison and Tucker Trickey to the squad.
The Eagles began their campaign with a 14-10 win against Kenya, with tries from David Still III and Orrin Bizer, both converted by Will Chevalier. They followed up with a commanding 29-14 victory over the host nation, Uruguay, with Still, Bizer, and Chevalier adding to the scoresheet. Stephen Tomasin too touched down, and Lucas Lacamp contributed a conversion.
A North American rivalry clash with Canada saw the USA emerge victorious with a 22-14 scoreline. Jack Wendling, Still, Ben Broselle, and Lacamp all registered tries, with Lacamp adding the conversions. Day one concluded with a 17-5 win against Belgium, thanks to two tries from Chevalier and one from Tomasin, all converted by Chevalier.
The final match against Germany, a rematch following a previous encounter in Nairobi, saw the Eagles elevate their intensity. Chevalier opened the scoring, followed by tries from Broselle and Lacamp, giving the USA a 17-0 halftime lead. Chevalier added another endeavor after the break, before Germany responded with a score of their own. A try from debutant Tucker Trickey sealed the 29-5 victory and an undefeated record for the Eagles in Uruguay.
Will Chevalier was named Player of the Tournament, recognized for his impact in the center position, where he scored five tries throughout the competition. Both Aaron Faison and Tucker Trickey scored their first tries for the USA Eagles Sevens during the tournament.
The USA Men’s Eagles Sevens roster includes Aaron Cummings, Ben Broselle, Orrin Bizer, Will Chevalier, David Still III, Ryan Santos, Stephen Tomasin (Captain), Lucas Lacamp, Jack Wendling, Uluamu Niutupuivaha, Pita Vi, Marcus Tupuola, Tucker Trickey, and Aaron Faison.
