Saif Al-Din Musalat, a Florida native, died in the West Bank in early June after what Palestinian authorities described as a violent beating by settlers. The Palestinian Authority Ministry of Health reported that Musalat, who was visiting family, sustained injuries throughout his body in the village of Sinjil, north of Ramallah.
The U.S. State Department confirmed the death of an American citizen in the west Bank on Saturday, directing inquiries about any inquiry to the israeli goverment.
In related violence,a second Palestinian,23-year-old Mohammed Rizq Hussein Al-Shalabi,also died during clashes in the same period,reportedly from a chest wound.the West Bank, occupied by israel as 1967, has seen a surge in violence since the October 7, 2023, attacks by Hamas and the subsequent war in Gaza.
