US 60 Closure: Lane Restrictions & Detour Near Superior, AZ

US 60 to Close Between Superior and Miami ⁢on Wednesday,​ Sept. 24 for⁤ Bridge Work

SUPERIOR, AZ – The‍ Arizona ⁤Department of Transportation (ADOT) is advising ⁤drivers to plan⁣ for a ⁤full closure of⁢ US⁤ 60 between Superior and Miami on Wednesday, September 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.‍ for bridge replacement work.

During‌ the closure, US 60 between Miami and Magma ‌Mine Road (mileposts 231-243) ‌will remain open​ to local traffic only. Motorists are directed to use a detour via southbound State Route 177 through Winkelman to northbound ⁢SR 77 for eastbound ⁤travel, and ⁢southbound SR‍ 77 through ⁣Winkelman to northbound⁤ SR ‍177 for⁤ westbound travel. ADOT ⁤notes the detour is approximately 75 miles and may add an hour to travel time between Superior and Miami, recommending drivers consider traveling‍ before 9 a.m.⁣ or after 2 p.m.

Prior‍ to the full closure, US ⁢60 east of Superior, between⁣ mileposts 227-229, will⁣ be reduced‍ to one lane with alternating east- and westbound ⁣travel from ‌5:30 a.m. to ​4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22,⁢ Tuesday, Sept. 23, and Thursday, Sept. 25. Flaggers and a pilot car​ will guide drivers⁣ through this work zone.

Additional‍ full closures are ⁣scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. ⁤on Tuesday, Sept. 30, Wednesday, Oct.1, and Thursday, Oct.2, with the‌ same detour route in effect.

ADOT reminds ⁤drivers‌ that⁢ schedules are subject to change due to ​weather or unforeseen circumstances.Lane restrictions, speed ‌reductions,⁤ and ‍a 12-foot vehicle width⁤ restriction will⁣ be in place throughout the project. Oversize loads ‌can ‌be accommodated with advance notice. Drivers are urged to ​allow extra travel time, exercise caution, and merge safely in all work zones.
