Uruguay Weather: Forecast for Tourism Week & Early April
Uruguayan meteorologist Guillermo Ramis has adjusted his forecast for Semana de Turismo (Tourism Week), predicting mostly rain-free conditions despite a potentially stormy weekend leading into the holiday, according to a report from Informativo Sarandí this morning.
Ramis delivers his forecasts via a unique format, responding to listener questions read by the news program’s hosts. Recent inquiries have increasingly focused on the weather outlook for Semana de Turismo, a popular travel period in Uruguay.
The meteorologist indicated that even as the week itself is expected to be largely dry, the preceding days could see significant precipitation. “The Friday at the highly end of the day will have some precipitation,” Ramis stated, adding that Saturday is shaping up to be “the most complicated day, with some thunderstorm cells.” Sunday is expected to bring only “a few showers, not much,” with similar conditions continuing into Monday – “some precipitation in the early morning and then reappearing in the afternoon: very little rain, and then no more for the whole week.”
Responding to a question about the weather in the second week of April, Ramis referenced a Spanish saying, “Abril, el de las aguas mil,” which translates to “April, the one of a thousand waters,” and alludes to the spring season in the Northern Hemisphere. He currently anticipates “a lot of storm and rain on Tuesday the 7th and Wednesday the 8th” of April. However, Ramis cautioned that projections beyond three days are subject to change.
Ramis’s forecasts are broadcast on Informativo Sarandí, a program on Sarandi 690, a Uruguayan radio station that also maintains a presence on YouTube and TikTok, sharing clips of his weather reports. The station’s YouTube channel currently features a video titled “Guillermo Ramis: El pronóstico más esperado” (Guillermo Ramis: The Most Expected Forecast).
