MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The North Texas Mean Green volleyball team secured a historic 3-1 victory (17-25, 25-20, 25-15, 25-17) over Memphis on Sunday, marking the program’s first-ever win against the Tigers. The triumph at the Larry O. Finch Center elevates UNT‘s record to 15-5 overall and 5-3 in conference play.

After falling behind in the first set, the Mean Green dominated Memphis in key statistical categories – kills, hitting percentage, assists, service aces, digs, and blocks – to rally for the win.
“today was a really gritty win for us after we obviously didn’t play well in the first set,” head coach Dave Fleming saeid.”So, we dealt with a little adversity but I think the team responded really well and started making plays to put pressure on Memphis. I’m really proud of them and that is a really good win.”
Sophomore Reagan Bedell led the North Texas offense with 14 kills, while Lilly Croshaw added 12 kills and five blocks. Setter Alexa Washington recorded her 10th double-double of the season, contributing 21 assists, 11 digs, and six kills.
“Today’s matchup took all of us,” Washington said. “We weren’t firing on all cylinders, so it was about finding a way to win and make things work.”
North Texas will continue its season with a two-match road trip, facing Tulsa on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Wichita State on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
