Esperanza, Argentina – The National University of the Coast (UNL) is hosting its annual Welfare Week from Monday, September 22nd too Friday, September 26th, bringing a series of health-focused workshops, screenings, adn activities to the Fave Esperanza campus and the wider community.
This year’s event, aligned wiht the Pan American Health Association’s regional initiative promoting health and well-being, centers around the theme “BUILDING TOGETHER HEALTH AND WELFARE,” emphasizing intersectorality and integrating health considerations into all policy areas.
The week’s agenda includes a diverse range of offerings. Monday, September 22nd features a sleep hygiene workshop for 1st-year students led by the UNL health centre team at 10:00 AM. Tuesday,September 23rd will see Red Cross personnel offering glucose and blood pressure checks from 8:30-11:00 AM,alongside carbon monoxide (CO2) exposure measurements by ALCEC Esperanza from 8:30-11:30 AM. Students from the Bachelor of Nutrition program, interning at the UNL Health Center and university dining hall, will lead recreational activities from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Volunteers from the FCM extension program will focus on dengue prevention from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM, while the Health Center will provide PAP smears and sexual health counseling on demand from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM. A yoga class will be held at the Campus Playón from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Wednesday, September 24th mirrors some of Tuesday’s health checks – glucose and blood pressure screenings by the red Cross (8:30-11:00 AM) and recreational activities led by nutrition students (8:30 AM-12:00 PM). Additionally,a stand showcasing produce from the UNL school farm will be open from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM,alongside an organ donation awareness stand from Cudaio. The Health Center will again offer PAP smears and sexual health counseling (9:30 AM-12:00 PM), and the provincial Program of HIV and ETS will provide rapid HIV and syphilis testing, alongside prevention materials and counseling, from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM. A talk with RCP practice will be held at the Campus Playón at 7:00 PM.
Thursday, September 25th features a Bodycombat class at the Campus Playón from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM. The week concludes on Friday, September 26th with a sleep hygiene workshop for 2nd-year students, again led by the health center team, at 10:00 AM.
The welfare Week aims to highlight the health initiatives undertaken by UNL and promote a positive vision of health within the university community and beyond.
