UNL‘s “All ‍in ⁤the Hall” Recycling Program ‌Expands Campus-Wide

The University of‍ Nebraska-Lincoln’s⁤ (UNL) “All in the Hall” recycling program has significantly expanded, now operating in all‍ residence ⁣halls, the Nebraska Union, Lied Center for Performing Arts, and key athletic facilities including‌ Memorial Stadium, Hawks Championship ⁣Center, and the ⁤Bob ‍Devaney Sports Center. This expansion, supported ⁤by the Nebraska Department of Environment and⁤ Energy, brings standardized ⁣recycling stations⁢ to 105 buildings across campus.

Over the summer,‌ the program was updated to benefit the⁢ more than 5,000 students who moved onto campus⁤ this fall, providing ⁢a consistent ⁤and accessible recycling experience for both the university community and visitors. The⁢ standardized stations are strategically placed in high-traffic areas to make recycling the ‍easy choice.

“for us in University ⁢Housing and Dining, and⁤ the Nebraska Unions, we ⁤are excited to support the expansion⁢ of UNL’s All in the Hall⁢ recycling initiative,” said Lucas Novotny, executive director of housing, dining and unions. “By⁤ offering centralized, clearly ⁣labeled stations, we’re furthering our shared goal of campuswide sustainability and our responsibilities to‌ be great stewards of the resources entrusted⁣ to our care by the students.”

The impact of ‌the program ‍is notably meaningful for students who have advocated for ⁣improvements. Megan Wilkins, a former resident and‍ current sustainability ⁢intern, shared, “It truly was a full circle experience to help implement these new stations. I remember brainstorming improvements to the waste management ‌systems during my freshman year, and it’s exciting to know current students will benefit from this easier, more ⁣effective ⁢system.”

Expanding “All in the Hall” into public spaces like the Lied Center and athletic venues also demonstrates UNL’s commitment to sustainability to the⁢ wider community. ⁤

Managed by ⁤the‌ Office of ⁣Sustainability, the program provides resources and answers ⁢to ‍frequently asked questions on its website (https://sustainability.unl.edu/about-office-sustainability/all-hall-recycling-program/). Wiht the program now ⁣widely implemented, ⁤the office is⁤ focused ⁢on exploring further initiatives to help UNL achieve its zero-waste ⁤goals.
