University of Scranton Pre-Med Director & Student Support

University⁣ of ⁢Scranton Health Professions ‌Organization Welcomes New​ Director, Hosts Open⁤ House

SCRANTON, PA – ​Teh University of Scranton’s Health Professions Organization (HPO) ⁢recently hosted an Open House to introduce its new ​program director, Dr. Anthony Ferentino.The event allowed prospective⁤ and current students to meet Dr. Ferentino and learn‌ about the comprehensive support services offered by the University’s⁤ office⁤ of health professions, located within the Institute of‍ Molecular Biology and Medicine⁣ building.

Dr. Ferentino brings extensive experience to ⁤the role, previously serving ⁤as director of the Center for⁤ Learning Excellence at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine and as an assistant ⁤professor⁢ of medical education at Geisinger.he ⁣also taught anatomy and ⁣physiology as an adjunct professor at ⁤The University of Scranton​ for seven⁣ years and practiced for 22 years ‍as a chiropractic physician in Pittston.

The HPO supports students pursuing a variety of⁣ health⁢ careers, including pre-medicine, pre-dental, pre-physician ‍assistant, pre-optometry,⁤ pre-pharmacy, and​ pre-veterinary studies. Services range from​ academic guidance to submission assistance, bolstered by​ weekly⁢ meetings and resources provided by the student-led HPO.​

“Our office⁢ helps ‍and supports all of our pre-medical and pre-health students…We help them navigate​ from‍ academics all the way through their ‌application process,” Dr. Ferentino stated. He expressed enthusiasm for his new⁤ position, adding, “Its been wonderful and I’m grateful to be hear. I‍ have great visions and hope ⁤for what I can contribute and‌ achieve in this role – to support our students and make ‍it⁣ even stronger than it already is.”​

This year’s HPO officers are: William Wine (President),‌ Drew Mauriello and ‍David Banko (Co-Vice Presidents of Presentations), Nicole Baker (Treasurer), Sophia Vanesko (Secretary),​ Matthew Jasienski (service‍ Chair), and Emily Cosklo (Junior​ Liaison).
