University of Florida: AI & IT Internship Opportunity
The University of Florida (UF) Information Technology (UFIT) department is offering a student internship focused on advancing the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across campus. This role will contribute to the advancement and refinement of the NaviGator AI suite, a key initiative led by Vice President and CIO Elias Eldayrie.
Internship Responsibilities:
The intern will play a vital role in enhancing UF’s AI capabilities through several key tasks:
* Prompt Library Contribution: Expanding the main NaviGator AI Prompt Library with effective and powerful prompts tailored for various campus use cases.
* AI response Fine-tuning: Collaborating with campus constituents to refine AI responses for accuracy and relevance, utilizing their specific datasets.
* Workflow Testing & Validation: Conducting thorough testing and validation of agentic workflows to guarantee accuracy and reliability, including unit/integration tests, adversarial cases, and regression tests.
Learning Outcomes:
This internship provides a unique opportunity to develop practical skills in the rapidly evolving field of AI. Key learning outcomes include:
* Agentic Workflow Architecture: Designing agentic AI workflows capable of improving existing business processes across diverse campus applications.
* Prompt Optimization: Mastering prompt optimization techniques to create reusable,domain-specific,and effective prompts for the NaviGator AI library.
* Rigorous Testing: Designing and executing comprehensive test plans for agentic workflows, encompassing various testing methodologies.
* AI Tool Proficiency: Gaining hands-on experience with a range of AI tools and platforms, and assisting constituents with onboarding to the NaviGator AI suite.

preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
* Familiarity with leading Generative AI models including Llama, GPT, Claude, and Gemini.
* Understanding of natural language processing, text generation, and prompt engineering principles.
* Proficiency in programming languages such as Python.
* Experience with NaviGator Chat and NaviGator Toolkit.
* Experience designing Agentic AI workflows using tools like n8n, Zapier, Langflow, or AgentKit.
* Prior experience developing and deploying AI-powered applications is considered a plus.
