Universal Halloween Horror Nights 2026: Jack & Oddfellow Return to Orlando

March 22, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Universal Orlando Resort will celebrate the 35th anniversary of Halloween Horror Nights with the return of two iconic characters, Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow, as the event’s hosts for 2026. The event, which runs from August 28 to November 1, 2026, will be themed “Infernal Carnival of Nightmares,” according to a press release from Universal Orlando.

For the first time, Jack and Dr. Oddfellow, long-standing rivals within the event’s lore, will unite to present a unified theme. Mike Aiello, Universal Orlando Resort’s senior director of Entertainment Creative Development, described the pairing as bringing together “legacy and all of the recent content that we’ll be presenting this year,” according to USA Today.

Jack the Clown first appeared at Halloween Horror Nights in 2000 and has develop into a central figure in the event’s history. Dr. Oddfellow debuted the same year. According to Universal’s established narrative, Jack was a carnival performer who committed murder and was subsequently sealed away by Dr. Oddfellow. The two have historically been portrayed as adversaries, with their conflict a recurring element of the event.

The first haunted house announced for the 2026 event is titled “Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control.” The house will explore the origins of the rivalry between the two characters, narrated from Dr. Oddfellow’s perspective. The creative team stated that the house will reveal the story of Jack’s initial killing spree and the circumstances that led to his imprisonment by Oddfellow, as reported by Attractions Magazine.

Halloween Horror Nights is a separately ticketed event at Universal Studios Florida, featuring haunted houses, scare zones and live entertainment. The 2026 event marks the 35th anniversary of the event, which began in 1991.

Speculation regarding additional haunted houses for the 2026 event includes potential themes based on the recently concluded series Stranger Things, the horror franchise Hellraiser, and the Best Picture-nominated film Sinners, according to Inside The Magic. Universal Studios has not yet confirmed these themes.
