Neusiedl am see, Burgenland – State Councilor Daniela Winkler extended congratulations to the Union Tennis Club Neusiedl am See today as the club celebrates its 50th anniversary. Founded on September 1, 1975, as a section of the Union Association Neusiedl am See, the club began with eight founding members and quickly grew to around 40.
The UTC Neusiedl am See has been a cornerstone of the Burgenland tennis community for half a century, prioritizing youth development from its earliest days with training programs launching in the summer of 1976. Members largely constructed the club’s first tennis courts in 1978 and a clubhouse, nicknamed a “Seehütte,” in 1979. Expansion continued with two additional courts built in 1980 through member efforts.
Throughout the decades, the club has hosted notable events, including the Austrian Tennis State Championships in 1987 and 1996. Infrastructure improvements have been ongoing, with a new clubhouse built in 1992, followed by the addition of courts six and seven.Ahead of the anniversary, the UTC completed a thorough renewal of its facilities, including a full clubhouse renovation, modernized sanitary facilities and changing rooms, and a new LED floodlight system.
