Union Minister Jitendra Singh Accuses CJP Leaders of Receiving Foreign Funds from US and Pakistan
Union Minister Jitendra Singh alleged on November 3 that the satirical political group Cockroach Janta Party and its leaders receive illegal funding from foreign non-profits and hostile external networks to orchestrate unrest in India. NDTV reported that Singh accused outfit founder Abhijeet Dipke of accepting money from United States-based donors and co-founder Ashutosh Ranka of taking payments from Pakistani politicians. Singh also alleged that a participant in the campaign named Sania had received funds during ‘Operation Sindoor’.
The allegations surfaced during a press conference in Bengaluru as authorities escalated scrutiny over the group’s street demonstrations against the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Singh claimed that deep-state operatives and unauthorised organisations are manufacturing a false narrative to undermine constitutional bodies, citing the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act as a necessary check on cross-border financial flows.
Activists Sign Peace Bonds Before Breaching Barricades
The political friction coincides with active police action in the capital. The legal scrutiny follows a rapid sequence of detentions. On October 10, Delhi Police detained Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, releasing them only after both men signed formal peace bonds of 50,000 rupees each alongside written undertakings to avoid breach-of-peace activities for one year. Within 72 hours of that release, Das, Ranka, and CJP member Ajinkya Shinde crossed police barricades and scaled locked gates at Jantar Mantar on October 13. The site was previously denotified as a designated protest zone, where the members shouted slogans demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Bharatiya Janata Party Accuses Critics of Targeting Judiciary
Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Tuhin A Sinha told NDTV that the BJP accused both the CJP and the Congress party of targeting the judiciary around the same time, pointing to Rahul Gandhi marching to the Supreme Court during an active hearing and staging a mock impeachment. Sinha added, All of these things clearly indicate that it is a very well-planned movement to ruin India’s reputation locally and to cast aspersions about the robust functioning of democracy in the country…
Opposition figures rejected the Centre’s foreign-funding claims. Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge challenged the competence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, the Intelligence Bureau, and Research and Analysis Wing, telling reporters that officials made serious allegations without producing a shred of evidence. Kharge also backed Rahul Gandhi’s online poll challenging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a public debate, suggesting Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat moderate a discussion regarding the financial backing of the Congress, BJP, and RSS.

The CJP Response
The satirical group hit back at the government’s accusations through social media posts. Ranka responded to Singh’s claims on X by asking why officials had previously negotiated with the outfit, while also posting satirical jabs regarding paper leaks and unemployment. Dipke shared a video clip of the minister’s press conference accompanied by a funny GIF of a man placing bundles of cash on his head, as the group asserted in a statement that the words of officials occupying high office hold no value.
