Ulta’s Wellness Pilot: Bridging Beauty and Wellness in Store

by Priya Shah – Business Editor

Ulta developed its wellness concept in 2021 with a curated product assortment and now evolves it into a dedicated in-store experience with the launch of “Wellness by Ulta.” The concept features dedicated shop-in-shop sections and rolls out this week in four locations: Columbus, Ohio; Short Pump, Virginia; and Peabody, Massachusetts. Laura Beres, VP of Wellness at Ulta Beauty, stated in a statement: “Wellness by Ulta Beauty is evolving from a category into an experience.”

This initiative demonstrates Ulta’s ambition to move wellness beyond product merchandising and into experiential retail. “Our first-ever wellness boutiques will deliver finding, education and trusted guidance together in a way that helps guests easily find what works best for them,” Beres explained, highlighting a move beyond simple merchandising. By hiring expert staff and focusing on customer guidance, Ulta positions itself as a credible retail destination for both experienced wellness shoppers and newcomers to the category.

This commitment appeals to wellness brands focused on providing self-care solutions and functional benefits to consumers, such as The Nue Co,who prioritize genuine wellness.
