Ukraine Strikes Russian Air Defense Repair Facility in Crimea

Ukrainian forces struck a key facility in occupied Crimea used to repair Russian air defense systems on Wednesday, March 19, 2026, Ukraine’s Armed Forces General Staff reported. The target was the Granit production and technical enterprise, a subsidiary of the Russian defense conglomerate Almaz-Antey, located near Sevastopol.

According to the General Staff, the Granit facility services the core of Russia’s air defense “shield” over the occupied peninsula, with repairs frequently conducted on systems including the S-400 Triumf, S-300PM2, Buk-M2/M3, and Tor-M2. The strike represents a systematic effort to degrade Russian air defense capabilities along the Fiolent Highway in Crimea, officials stated.

The attack was confirmed by multiple sources, including the Telegram channel Crimean Wind, which reported overnight drone activity in the area. Images circulating online show significant damage to parts of the facility, which has been operating in occupied Crimea since 2016. Independent analysts from the Dnipro OSINT community have also confirmed signs of damage consistent with a successful strike.

Residents in the area reported hearing at least five drones during the attack, and emergency services were deployed to the site, which was subsequently cordoned off with a heavy police presence and ambulances on standby. The Granit facility is responsible for the maintenance and repair of air defense systems used by Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, according to reports.

Russia’s Ministry of Defense claimed on Thursday morning that its air defenses had intercepted and destroyed 138 Ukrainian drones overnight, including those targeting Crimea. However, this claim has not been independently verified.

In a separate operation, Ukrainian forces also targeted personnel clusters near Striletska Bay in Sevastopol, with the General Staff stating that losses are still being assessed. This follows a recent sabotage operation near Simferopol that disrupted Russian military logistics after a locomotive used to transport supplies to frontline units was disabled.

The attack on the Granit facility comes as Ukrainian forces continue to target Russian military infrastructure in Crimea, aiming to disrupt supply lines and degrade defensive capabilities. The Ukrainian Navy stated the operation targeted an “innovation center” within the Granit enterprise.
