ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine’s largest steel producer, confirmed that one of its sites in Kryvyi Rih was struck, forcing a partial suspension of operations. In that same city, a missile attack resulted in two deaths and 14 injuries, while another strike in the city of Sumy claimed one life. Two additional deaths were reported in the Zaporizhzhia region following a residential hit, according to Ivan Fedorov, the head of the local military administration.

Research from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) indicates that Russia has scaled up its production of Shahed-type drones—often referred to as “Geran” drones—by leveraging domestic facilities like those in Alabuga and the Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant. This buildup has allowed Russia to maintain a high tempo of strikes, with the Ukrainian Air Force estimating that Russia increased Shahed drone launches to over 1,000 per week by March 2025.
Ukraine, conversely, is increasingly relying on domestically produced long-range weapons to strike deep into Russian territory. President Zelenskyy noted on Saturday that Kyiv utilized its “Flamingo” missiles to target a rocket research and production center in Samara, roughly 900 kilometers from Ukraine.
