Ukraine to contribute Expertise to European “Antidrone Wall” Project
BRUSSELS – Ukraine has offered to share its experience countering Russian drones as ten European nations move forward wiht plans to establish a comprehensive “antidrone wall” to protect against aerial threats. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Chmyhal announced his countryS readiness to participate in the project, initially unveiled by European Defense Commissioner Andrius Kubilius, following a meeting with representatives from Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Finland, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Ukraine.
“We are now already aspired to play an active role in protecting Europe against the threat of Russian drones,” Chmyhal wrote on telegram. “We hope to sign a joint declaration with our partners from October. For our part, we are already ready to send technical teams to prepare groups that will be part of the ‘antidrone wall.'”
The initiative will begin with a focus on drone detection, aiming to establish a network of terrestrial and satellite “sensors” capable of identifying and tracking drones within a year, according to an EU official. This will be followed by the growth of interception capabilities.
Kubilius explained that the “antidrone wall” will “create a fundamentally new defense ecosystem in Europe, in which Ukraine is ready to participate.” ukraine’s offer to contribute its expertise stems from its extensive experience in combating Russian drone attacks throughout the ongoing conflict.
