Corbridge, Northumberland -⁣ A picturesque village in Northumberland is drawing attention not only for ​its remarkably preserved ⁤Roman history but also for its inviting pubs and scenic surroundings, making it an ideal destination for a winter getaway.The village is home to ⁣one of the ‌moast significant ⁢roman sites in⁤ Britain, Corbridge Roman Fort, and offers a blend of ancient exploration⁣ and conventional British hospitality.

Corbridge’s strategic location on the Roman military road ​of Dere Street lead to the establishment of‌ a⁢ major ‍supply base and garrison town in AD 160. Today,the site showcases ‌remarkably ⁤well-preserved remains,offering a glimpse into Roman life on Hadrian’s Wall. Among⁢ the village’s highlights are traditional pubs⁣ like The Black Bull, praised by TripAdvisor reviewer Alison B as a “lovely cosy, traditional pub, tastefully decorated for christmas.” She noted⁣ the “pleasant and efficient” staff, “excellent” ⁣food, and fair prices, specifically mentioning a “moist and tasty” turkey meal from the Christmas menu priced at £28 for two courses, ⁤complete with roast potatoes, vegetables, ​and​ a ‌Yorkshire pudding.
