UK Urges Denmark to Adopt Hybrid Drone-Ship Fleet Strategy
Denmark Weighs Record Warship Acquisition Amid Global Fleet Overhaul
The Danish military is currently searching the market for its largest warship acquisition in history. The nation is eyeing a series of new frigates just as navies worldwide undergo heavy modernization. At the same time, the United Kingdom has chosen to scrap plans for what was intended on paper as its most powerful warship ever, opting instead for a radically different naval strategy.
Britain Abandons Massive Warship Plans for Hybrid Fleets
Luke Pollard, the British minister for defence industry and readiness, stated that the UK has chosen to invest in a hybrid fleet. It is Pollard’s responsibility to prepare Britain for war, and both he and the Royal Navy intend to achieve this by procuring fewer large ships that will instead function as motherships for a wide array of uncrewed drone vessels. These include not only small, fast suicide drones, but also large unmanned ships that closely resemble traditional warships.
The frigates meant to serve as the core of this hybrid fleet are currently under construction on a shipyard in Scotland.

London Pitches Multi-Decade Defense Partnership to Copenhagen
British officials are actively encouraging Denmark to adopt this new doctrine as the Danish military prepares its upcoming frigate procurement.
Luke Pollard stated that the UK has chosen to invest in a hybrid fleet.
Luke Pollard emphasized the collaborative nature of the pitch, framing the potential acquisition well beyond a simple hardware transaction, stating that they must work closer together in these darker times and that Denmark is not just buying a ship, but a partnership that will span decades with shared industrial growth and technology.
Balancing Traditional Combat With Uncrewed Warfare Demands
While the Royal Navy builds its new class of mother-frigates in Scottish yards, the Danish defense establishment continues to weigh its options on the international market to balance traditional heavy combat capability with modern uncrewed warfare demands.
