LAS VEGAS – Gabriel Bonfim defeated Randy Brown via knockout at 1:40 of the second round in the UFC Fight Night main event on Saturday, extending his winning streak to five fights.
Bonfim, 28, finished brown, 35, with a standing knee, though the fight was largely dictated by Bonfim’s consistent calf kicks.UFC Stats recorded 35 total strikes landed by Bonfim, with 23 specifically targeting Brown’s leg. Brown initially disputed the stoppage but replays confirmed the impact of the strike. The victory propels Bonfim closer to a top-10 ranking, currently at No. 14, adn he instantly called out No.10 ranked Colby Covington.
“Colby, stop running,” Bonfim said through an interpreter. “Give me a chance so I can walk you out of the ring. Without a doubt, I’m going to retire [you].”
Brown had won four of his previous five bouts before the loss, and it marked his first knockout defeat since 2020. Covington has not fought since december and last secured a win in March 2022 against Jorge Masvidal.
