Udumbanchola Vision hits theaters with Mathew Thomas
As a complete mass entertainer directed by debutant filmmaker Salam Bukhari, the Malayalam feature film Udumbanchola Vision opened in theaters on October 24, 2026, backed by producers Asher Ameer and Riyas K. Muhammad under the banners A&R Media Labs and UB Productions.
Mathrubhumi reported that the narrative follows Mithun, a young photographer’s assistant in Udumbanchola who unexpectedly takes over the local cable channel Udumbanchola Vision News. As Mithun steps into the broadcast space, he encounters high-stakes opposition and uncovers the backstory of the channel’s late founder, a young journalist named Zakaria who died prematurely.
Cast and Crew Behind the Regional Media Drama
Alan Rodni penned the screenplay, shaping a storyline driven by regional media production rather than metropolitan newsrooms, with Vishnu Thandassery and Raneev handle cinematography while Gopi Sundar provides the songs and background score.
The extensive ensemble cast features Mathew Thomas in the lead role as Mithun, alongside Milind Soman, Sreenath Bhasi, Siddique, Dileesh Pothen, Sudev Nair, Ashokan, Baburaj, Jinu Joseph, Vishak Nair, Shanker Induchoodan, Shaheen Siddique, Bhagath Manuel, Srinda, Neena Kurup, Abhiram Radhakrishnan as a point-of-view cameraman, Gabri Jose, Hasli Aman, Chaitra Prakash, Jijina Radhakrishnan, and Vafa Khadeeja Rahman.
Mithun Chooses Intellect over Force in Character Journey
Mathrubhumi noted that Mithun’s journey traces an upward trajectory from humble beginnings, forcing the protagonist to choose between raw physical force and strategic intellect when rivalries escalate. The supporting players hold distinct narrative functions, with Sreenath Bhasi delivering a performance that lingers after the credits roll, according to the same outlet’s review.
Stunt choreography for the action sequences was coordinated by Kalai Kingson, Mafia Sasi, and Tavasi Raj, while Shobi Paulraj handled choreography. Sound design was executed by Vicky with a final mix by M.R. Rajakrishnan.
The film hits screens nationwide following its scheduled premiere.
