STORRS,CT – The UConn men’s golf team is set to conclude its fall season with a trip to Maui,Hawaii,for the 11th Ka’anapali Classic by OUTRIGGER,beginning Monday,October 27th. The tournament, hosted at the Royal Ka’anapali Golf Course, marks the Huskies’ eighth appearance in the event, a tradition that consistently closes out their fall schedule.
This year’s competition will be a three-day event, running through Wednesday, October 29th, on the 6,700-yard, par 71 Ka’anapali Golf Club course. The Huskies will face a challenging field including Hawai’i, Boise State, Colorado, CSUN, East Tennessee State, Florida Gulf Coast, georgia, Gonzaga, Indiana, Kansas, north Florida, Oklahoma, Sacramento State, San Jose State, Southern Illinois, TCU, UC Irvine, and Wyoming. The tournament provides a crucial prospect for UConn to gauge its performance against a diverse range of programs before the winter break.
Senior Connor Goode (Glastonbury, CT) and junior Bradley Sawka (Ellington, CT) will lead the UConn lineup. Both golfers have demonstrated consistent excellence this fall, each earning a pair of top-10 finishes and three top-20 placements in the four events played thus far. Sawka currently boasts a team-leading 71.5 average per round, closely followed by Goode at 72.0. Sawka tied for first at the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse, while Goode secured seventh place at the same event.
Rounding out the team roster are sophomores Matt Costello (Taunton, MA) and Caden Blanchette (Manchester, PA), alongside senior Colin Spencer (Mashpee, MA). Freshman brayden Janard (Jupiter, FL) will compete as an individual.
The Huskies will then enter a winter break before resuming competition in February at the Lake Jovita Invitational in Dade City, Florida.
