UAE President Offers Condolences to Qatar Over Military Helicopter Crash | Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, offered condolences to Qatar following the deaths of four Qatar Armed Forces personnel in a helicopter crash, the official Qatar News Agency reported Tuesday.
The UAE minister conveyed his sympathies to Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, during a phone call, according to a statement released by the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The deceased were identified as Captain Pilot Mubarak Salem Dway Al Marri, Captain Pilot Saeed Nasser Sumikh, Staff Sergeant Fahd Hadi Ghanem Al Khayarin, and Warrant Officer Mohammed Maher Mohammed.
The helicopter crashed in Qatari territorial waters due to a technical malfunction during a routine mission, QNA reported. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed expressed the UAE’s full solidarity with Qatar in the wake of the tragedy, offering sincere condolences to the nation, the families, and the loved ones of the victims. He prayed for divine mercy upon the deceased and for the continued safety and security of Qatar.
The condolences from the UAE follow similar expressions of sympathy from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Egypt, as reported by QNA and the official Twitter account of the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, and Egyptian Foreign Minister and Expatriates’ Affairs Minister Dr. Bader Abdel-Aati also spoke with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman to offer their condolences.
The calls took place amidst ongoing discussions regarding regional security and escalating military tensions, with the ministers reportedly reviewing the situation and exploring peaceful resolutions to disputes, according to the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
