Korea Announces Final 21-Man Squad for 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup
SANTIAGO, Chile – The Korea Football Association confirmed its final 21-player roster today for the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup, set to begin later this month in Chile. Notable omissions from the squad include overseas-based players Park Seung-soo (Newcastle),Yoon Do-young (Excellio),Yang Min-hyuk (Potsmus),and Bae Seung-kyun (Dordrecht),who were unable to join the national team preparations.
This year’s tournament presents a key chance for Korea to improve upon its recent performances – a fourth-place finish in 2023 and a runner-up result in 2019. The team will face a challenging Group B alongside Ukraine, Paraguay, and Panama, with their sights set on advancing beyond the group stage and contending for the championship.
The squad features goalkeepers Gong Si-hyun (Jeonbuk), Park Sang-young (Daegu), Hong Sung-min (Pohang), and Kim hyun-min (Busan). Defenders include Baek Min-gyu, Choi Seung-gu (Incheon), Sungshin (Bucheon), and Son Seung-min (Daegu). Midfielders are jung Maho (Chungnam Asan), and forwards Kim Hyun-o (Daejeon) and Baekgaon (Busan).
Korea will begin training in Santiago, Chile on August 8th, and will play kind matches against Chile and New Zealand’s U-20 teams as part of their final preparations.Their group league schedule begins on August 28th against Ukraine, followed by matches against Paraguay on October 1st and Panama on October 4th, all to be played in Valparaiso.
