Tyra Banks Shares Why She Regrets Halloween: Resurrection
Tyra Banks has no fond memories of starring in the 2002 slasher film Halloween: Resurrection, telling Entertainment Weekly that she does not look back on making the movie fondly “not even a tiny bit.” Speaking in an article published on Friday, October 2, the 52-year-old explained that her involvement in the horror franchise stemmed from a career strategy proposed by her agent at the time, who pointed to the trajectory of Halloween H20 star Josh Hartnett.
Agent Uses Josh Hartnett to Convince Banks
When the role in the eighth installment of the horror franchise was first pitched, Banks initially pushed back. She recalled telling her agent, “I’m not going to do that. What is it going to do for my career? I’m a model, and I need to do things that are kind of different to get this acting career that I want.” According to Banks, her agent countered with the success of fellow actor Josh Hartnett, urging her to take the part.
Prior to signing on for the slasher flick, Banks had landed early film roles in 1995’s Higher Learning and 2000’s Coyote Ugly, alongside other onscreen appearances. Yet the shift toward the horror genre failed to yield the breakout she sought. Banks quipped she was “promised the career of Josh Hartnett, of an actor, and promised an iconic death scene that will last forever, and neither of them happened.” Banks noted her blunt summary of the ordeal: “So, I have beef with Halloween 8!”
Editors Cut Death Scene from Final Film
Within the plot of Halloween: Resurrection, Banks portrayed a reality television producer tasked with documenting a group of teenagers inside serial killer Michael Myers’ childhood home. While her character meets her end at the hands of Myers, the actual murder sequence was trimmed from the final cut, leaving viewers with only a brief shot of her lifeless body.
“So I was like, yeah, OK, this is going to do it for me,” Banks said regarding the promise of an unforgettable exit. “Not only did it not do anything for me, they cut the damn death scene.”

Career Shift to Unscripted Television and Life in Australia
Despite the disappointment of the 2002 film release, Banks’s career pivoted toward success just a year later. In May 2003, she launched America’s Next Top Model, serving as creator, host, and mentor through its 2018 finale. She expanded her television footprint by hosting The Tyra Banks Show—which earned two Daytime Emmy Awards—and later fronting Dancing With the Stars from 2020 to 2022.
