Two Killed and Eleven Injured in Separate Jacksonville Halloween Party Shootings
Two people died and at least eleven others sustained injuries during two separate shooting incidents at Jacksonville Halloween parties early Sunday morning, Action News Jax reported. The violence erupted in two different neighborhoods just over two hours apart.
Arlington Expressway Dispute Leaves Seventeen-Year-Old Girl Dead
The first incident occurred at approximately 1:42 a.m. in the 6200 block of Arlington Expressway. Investigators reported that an argument broke out among individuals standing in line waiting to enter a Halloween gathering before gunfire started. A 17-year-old girl died from her injuries, while two other victims were shot and transported to a hospital.
Jacob Vorpahl, commander of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Major Case Section, stated that all three victims appeared to be unintended targets who had no involvement in the initial dispute. Authorities reported that at least two shooters, described as wearing dark clothing, carried out the attack.
Durkeeville House Party Gunfire Leaves One Man Dead
The second shooting took place around 3:50 a.m. near Wilcox and Fifth streets in the Durkeeville neighborhood. A Halloween house party drawing roughly 200 attendees spilled out into surrounding streets when gunfire erupted. According to police, an initial round of shots was followed rapidly by a second volley, which struck the majority of the victims.
Officers located a 20-year-old man who later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. A 15-year-old girl was among the wounded, with another victim listed in life-threatening condition and seven others reported in stable condition.
Police Seek Witnesses and Video to Identify Shooters
Investigators have not identified the shooters in either case. Vorpahl emphasized that resolving the Durkeeville investigation depends heavily on witnesses at the scene coming forward with details about what they saw and heard. Officials noted that cellphone video and firsthand accounts remain vital to tracking down the perpetrators.
Law enforcement warned that large, unregulated gatherings present inherent safety risks when individuals arrive with violent intentions. Police asked anyone possessing information or video footage regarding either shooting to contact investigators immediately.
