Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider Retires From Touring Due to Health Concerns

Twisted Sister has cancelled all scheduled reunion concerts for 2026, a decision prompted by the health challenges facing frontman Dee Snider, the band announced on February 6, 2026. The cancellations include the April 25th performance in São Paulo, Brazil, and all subsequent dates planned through the conclude of the summer.

Snider, 70, addressed the situation directly, clarifying reports that had circulated regarding the severity of his condition. “I’m not dying!” he stated in a recent broadcast of his radio show, “House of Hair.” “We all die, but not right now.” He explained that the decision to halt touring stemmed from a combination of health issues, including heart problems and arthritis, conditions he has managed with surgical interventions over the years.

The guitarist Jay Jay French and Eddie Ojeda, representing French Management Enterprises, released a statement confirming the cancellations and acknowledging Snider’s unexpected departure from the tour. The statement indicated that the future of Twisted Sister remains uncertain, with further announcements expected in the coming weeks.

Snider emphasized that his decision wasn’t about facing imminent mortality, but about maintaining the quality of performance his fans expect. “I can’t do the things I did in my 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, and even 60s,” he said. “I have to step away from Twisted Sister. I apologize.” He expressed a desire to avoid performing at a level below his previous standards, referencing Willie Nelson as an example of an artist continuing to perform despite physical limitations.

Despite stepping away from the rigors of touring, Snider intends to remain active in creative pursuits. He plans to continue writing, producing, and hosting his radio show. “I’m still rocking here,” he affirmed. “I’m not stopping. I have a lot of life to live.” He noted his father is 95 and still in good health, inspiring his own outlook.

The band had initially planned the 2026 tour to commemorate their 50th anniversary. Snider’s health issues, including degenerative arthritis and recent cardiac concerns, ultimately made the demands of touring unsustainable. He acknowledged the outpouring of support he received following the announcement, expressing gratitude for the concern, and encouragement.
