Tuvalu named top travel wish-list destination by Allclear study
Tuvalu, a tiny Polynesian nation spanning just 10 square miles, has emerged as the world’s most sought-after travel wish-list destination. While the island nation welcomed only 3,136 visitors in 2023, it has generated over 10,000 Google searches from holidaymakers over the past year who are planning itineraries and researching potential activities.
This study by AllClear Travel Insurance analyzed more than 37 million global holiday searches against official tourist arrival data for 162 destinations. The research sought to identify locations that capture significant public interest even when actual visitation numbers remain low, highlighting a gap between digital dreaming and physical travel.
The Pacific Dominance in Travel Interest
The top of the rankings is dominated by Pacific island nations, suggesting a growing global fascination with remote, untouched destinations. Following Tuvalu in the top spot is Kiribati, which sits in second place. Kiribati, composed of more than 30 coral atolls, maintains a modest tourism footprint, welcoming approximately 9,500 visitors annually. The Solomon Islands also feature prominently in the data, ranking fifth with 110 searches recorded per 100 visitors.
Global Destinations on the Radar
The list of top 10 wish-list destinations balances remote Pacific atolls with more established tourism hubs. Bermuda holds the third position, drawing nearly 270,000 holiday searches annually despite seeing fewer than 200,000 air arrivals. Montserrat, known as the “Emerald Isle of the Caribbean,” secured fourth place, having hosted 8,287 overnight visitors in 2025.

According to Letitia Smith, Head of Communications at AllClear, the trend reflects a common consumer behavior: We all have that one destination we’ve wanted to go to for years and for lots of people it stays on the wish list.
While Palau rounds out the top 10, bolstered by the introduction of new direct flights, many other locations on the list rely on their remote appeal to maintain their status as aspirational travel goals.
