TuS Meinerzhagen Dominates Westphalia Cup, Qualifies for National Championships
The TuS Meinerzhagen gymnastics and dance teams demonstrated overwhelming strength at the Westphalia Cup in Witten-Rüdinghausen on Saturday, securing five titles and qualifying multiple formations for both the Germany Cup and the German Championships.
The club’s success spanned both dance and gymnastics & dance categories. In the main class 15+, the formation “Possible,” already qualified for the Germany Cup as the 2025 champions, won with their new routine, “Auto Correct,” a performance described as a “socially critical examination of the time a person spends in front of a screen and life in a digital world.” They finished 6.0 points ahead of TV Lipperode’s Ten Points, according to reports from come-on.de. Sinja Boele, the team’s coach, noted room for improvement despite the decisive victory.
The formation “Be One” from Meinerzhagen placed third in the same competition, also earning a spot at the Germany Cup, allowing Westphalia to send three teams to the event in Sersheim on June 13th. The youth team, “Anima” (ages 11-15), also achieved a significant win, securing their place in the national finals. The “Mums” formation, competing in the 25+ age group, also took a title, defeating Arfeld’s Reloaded team.
The club’s dominance extended to the afternoon’s Easter Cup, a friendly competition featuring larger formations. Teams Speedy, Moana, Before, and Fly all won their respective categories, with Vaiana sharing a victory with a team from TuS Witten-Stockum. These formations will compete for national titles at the NRW Gymnastics Festival in Hamm in early June.
Individual gymnasts also found success on Sunday at the WTB and RTB Cup in Bonn. Leonie Nicholas won the K8 competition (11-14 years), qualifying for the Regio Cup in Bremen alongside teammates Clara Kara. Betul Safa won the K9 competition (15-17 years), with Luisa Rogalsky and Irina Busch finishing second and third respectively. Safa and Rogalsky will also compete in Bremen. Cindy Demirtas secured second place in the 25+ age group and will join them at the Regio Cup. The Regio Cup will determine the starting places for the Germany Cup, scheduled for June 27th in Halle/Saale.
The TuS Meinerzhagen’s impressive performance at the Westphalia Cup underscores its position as a leading force in German gymnastics and dance, with multiple teams poised to compete at the national level.
