Turnstile Makes Studio 8H Debut on Saturday Night Live

Rock band Turnstile made their debut on Saturday Night Live on October 3, performing the track “Birds” alongside a two-song medley of “I Care” and “Dull” as musical guests for the second episode of the show’s 52nd season.

The Baltimore-based group appeared on the NBC sketch show hosted by Dakota Johnson, following an Austin City Limits performance in Texas just one night prior, NME reported. For their first slot of the evening, Brendan Yates and the band delivered “Birds,” a heavy single from their fourth album, Never Enough.

Later in the broadcast, the group returned to the Studio 8H stage for a back-to-back performance. They opened the segment with the dreamier texture of “I Care” before transitioning directly into “Dull.” NME noted that the appearance follows KATSEYE’s debut on the season premiere, with Rosalía scheduled as the musical guest for the subsequent episode hosted by Shane Gillis.

Never Enough Wins Best Rock Album Grammy

The television appearance crowns a busy stretch for the band following the June release of Never Enough, which won Best Rock Album at the same Grammy ceremony where “Birds” triumphed.

Collaborative Projects and Global Touring Plans

In August, the band expanded the project with Never Enough: Versions, a collaborative reworking featuring contributions from Elton John, Hayley Williams, Blood Orange, A.G. Cook, Julien Baker, Four Tet, and Slayyyter. Following their weekend television slot, the band’s touring schedule includes a return to Austin for the second weekend of the festival, alongside scheduled dates in Arizona, California, and Las Vegas, before four European stops in Germany, Denmark, and Norway next June.

“It was about a lot of different life experiences — about the feeling of love always falling short, or feeling like it’s falling short of having a lasting impact. This feeling of constantly chasing and constantly reaching. That can be a pattern, that, if you’re stuck in it, it’s really hard to escape,” Yates told Rolling Stone regarding the title track of the Grammy-winning album.
