Tundra and Lightning Rock Festival Returns to USF Verftet in Bergen
Comedian and actor Jakob Schøyen Andersen is stepping behind the drum kit for punk band Aktiv Dödshjelp as the Tundra and Lightning festival opens at USF Verftet in Bergen on Friday. The event brings together multiple acts featuring well-known media personalities, including Dagens Næringsliv political editor Frithjof Jacobsen performing with Gluecifer, alongside newly adjusted festival logistics.
Logistical Adjustments and Ticket Sales at USF Verftet
Ticket sales for the second annual Tundra and Lightning festival are not quite reaching the levels of last year’s event, according to statements given to Bergensavisen by festival manager Andreas Lindborg. Despite slower initial sales, demand picked up in the days leading up to the Friday and Saturday event.
Organizers altered the festival layout following feedback from the inaugural year. Rather than requiring audiences to travel between USF Verftet and Kulturhuset for post-concert events, all evening activities are consolidated at USF Verftet. Doors open at 16:00 both days, featuring food, drinks, and a courtyard warm-up before nine artists take the stage each evening until midnight.
Media Figures and Returning Bands on the 2026 Lineup
Jakob Schøyen Andersen performs as the drummer for punk band Aktiv Dödshjelp, which plays the festival ahead of its second album release titled “The Nasty Piece” on Thursday. Schøyen Andersen is also scheduled to appear in October for a two-week run of the musical “The Book of Mormon” at Grieghallen.
Friday’s lineup features The Dogs, fronted by musician, comedian, and author Kristopher Schau, marking the band’s return to the stage after a two-year break and supporting their recent album “Trauma Junkie,” released September 18. Rock veterans Gluecifer also perform on Friday, featuring Frithjof Jacobsen—political editor at Dagens Næringsliv performing under the pseudonym Biff Malibu—following the January release of their album “Same drug new high.” Local presence is represented by Emmerhoff & The Melancholy Babies, marking 30 years since their initial performance at Garage in 1996.
First-Time Acts and Highlighted Performances
Festival manager Andreas Lindborg noted that several performing acts are showcasing new material or making festival debuts. Nix and the Nothings and Aktiv Dödshjelp release new albums during festival week, while Green Lung performs its first gig since releasing the album “Necropolitan,” and Irish artist Meryl Streek presents new material.
Among the scheduled performances is Swedish band Goat, featuring seven masked and anonymous members performing psychedelic music. Lindborg noted that the group is making its first-ever concert appearance in Bergen.
