“He’s getting better every day,” Van Pelt said this week regarding Tagovailoa’s grasp of the offense. “It’s tough always to come into a new system, but really the last three or four days, he’s really come on. The biggest thing is you can tell he can see the field really well. If the defense makes a mistake, he can see that and exploit it.”

Meanwhile, Penix addressed his physical and mental recovery on Cam Newton’s “4th&1” podcast, noting that while his knee is physically sound, overcoming the psychological hesitation remains a key step.
“I have to make sure I’m 100 percent,” Penix said on the podcast. “When I get out there, I don’t want to be thinking about it. A lot of it is mental. Physically, I’ve got a good ACL. I can go out there and do anything. But mentally, I hesitate. It’s like, ‘Do I trust it?’”
Stefanski expressed strong support for the recovery plan mapped out by the medical staff. “Very, very confident with where we are with Mike,” Stefanski said Wednesday. “I think he’s doing a great job. I’m confident in the plan that medical has for Mike, and that Mike has.”
