Noem Announces $10,000 bonuses for TSA Agents Who Worked During Shutdown
By Emma walker, World-Today-News.com
Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem is scheduled to announce $10,000 bonuses for Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents who continued to work throughout the recent government shutdown. The declaration, slated for 1 p.m. ET at a Houston airport, comes after a 43-day shutdown period.
According to three administration officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity, the bonuses will be awarded to “several thousand” agents who received high performance marks from their supervisors. The exact criteria for bonus eligibility, including whether 100% attendance is required, remains unclear.
The bonus plan follows a similar proposal from President Donald Trump for air traffic controllers who maintained perfect attendance during the shutdown.
An internal memo from the Department of homeland Security, obtained by MSNBC, indicates the bonus funds will be sourced from carryover funds allocated for fiscal year 2025.
When contacted for comment, the White House referred inquiries to the department of Homeland Security, which has not yet issued an official statement.
