Ho Chi Minh City Residence Transforms into Lunar Cavern Sanctuary
Musician-Artist’s Duplex Embraces Moon and Cave Symbolism
A striking interior redesign in Ho Chi Minh City has created a unique dwelling for a musician-artist, reimagining a 150-square-meter duplex as a serene “Lunar Cavern.” The design, by TAA DESIGN and Khoa Vu, draws inspiration from the moon’s duality and the protective essence of a cave.
A Sanctuary of Abstraction
The project delves into the fundamental concept of home, seeking to offer both shelter and a distinctive viewpoint. Architects sought to encapsulate the emotional depth associated with the moon within the living space.
Design Details Emerge
The transformation, completed in 2025, involved an area of 150 square meters. The lead architects on the project were Khoa Vu and Thien Nguyen. High-quality finishes include materials from District Eight, Dulux paints, and lighting by Poli Lighting.

Interior photography captures the essence of the space, highlighting the interplay of light and shadow. The design aims to create a peaceful retreat, reflecting the artist’s sensibilities. It is worth noting that the average price per square meter for residential property in Ho Chi Minh City’s prime districts has seen a significant increase, reaching approximately $6,000 USD as of late 2024, indicating robust real estate appreciation in the area (Savills Vietnam).
