Trump Reflects on Assassination Attempt One Year Later, Declares Nation in “new Golden Age”

One year after an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, former President Donald Trump stated that he believes divine intervention saved him for a specific purpose: to restore the nation. The incident, which occurred on July 13, 2024, saw Trump grazed by a bullet. He described the current period as a “new Golden Age” for the country.

Trump, speaking to reporters, indicated that he prefers not to dwell on the assassination attempt, acknowledging the inherent dangers of public service. “It’s a little bit of a dangerous profession being president, but I really don’t like to think about it. Better off not thinking about it,” he said.

in a statement released on the anniversary, Trump expressed his conviction that “God alone saved me that day for a righteous purpose: to restore our beloved Republic to greatness and to rescue our nation from those who seek its ruin.” He contrasted the would-be assassin’s “cowardice and failure” with the “magnificent legacy of the heroes of July 13, 2024,” which he believes will be remembered by the nation.
