Trump Weighs Options⁢ Regarding Venezuela, Military Pressure a Key Strategy

President Donald Trump is currently evaluating potential courses of ⁣action‍ regarding Venezuela, with ‍a military option ‌remaining on the table, according to White House and U.S. officials. While no decision has been made, the management is prioritizing leveraging the current U.S. military presence in the region ‍to pressure Venezuelan President nicolás maduro to step down.

The U.S. has concentrated ‌significant‌ military assets near ⁣Venezuela, including its most advanced‌ aircraft carrier and a force of 15,000 troops. Sources ⁤indicate ‌the Trump administration hopes this ⁣display of force will be sufficient to compel Maduro‘s resignation ⁣without resorting to direct military intervention.

Over the⁢ past week, President Trump received briefings ⁣on a⁣ range of military options, varying in ⁣scope from targeted strikes on Venezuelan military or⁣ government facilities to special operations deployments. However, a decision not to pursue military action is also being considered.

The⁣ President has voiced concerns ⁣regarding the potential risks to American troops and the overall likelihood of success should direct military ‍action be undertaken. He is also aware⁤ of‌ recent criticism from allies who believe his focus should remain on domestic priorities.

The possibility of renewed ‍diplomatic‌ efforts is also being explored, though it remains unclear ‌whether the U.S. has received any indication that Maduro would be willing to engage⁣ in ⁣new‌ negotiations. Last month, the administration halted diplomatic contact with Maduro and his key officials following unsuccessful attempts to negotiate a⁢ voluntary ‌resignation ‍from the venezuelan leader, a move that‍ frustrated Republican officials and others involved in the process.
