Trump Considers US Troops to Iran | Warship Footage Released

March 4, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

President Donald Trump stated Monday that U.S. Forces had sunk ten Iranian vessels as part of a broader military operation, characterizing the action as “our last, best chance to act” against what he described as “intolerable threats” emanating from Tehran. The statement, made during remarks at a White House ceremony, represents a significant escalation in the conflict that began with a U.S. And Israeli attack on Iran over the weekend.

The initial strikes, reported by Iranian media and confirmed by the White House, targeted locations across Iran, including near the offices of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Trump, in a video address released Saturday, announced the commencement of “major combat operations in Iran,” asserting the objective was to “defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime.” He further urged the Iranian people to “take over your government.”

The rationale for the attacks remains fluid. Trump has offered a series of explanations, including the demand to dismantle Iran’s nuclear weapons program – a program he previously claimed to have “obliterated” last June – and the possibility of regime change. Administration officials, in a background briefing to reporters Saturday, suggested the attacks were prompted by intelligence reports indicating Iran was preparing to strike U.S. Air bases in the region.

However, the claim of an imminent Iranian threat has been met with skepticism. According to a U.S. Defense intelligence agency assessment from 2025, Iran would likely require until 2035 to develop an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching the United States. While the assessment noted Iran could potentially leverage its space-launch vehicles for such a purpose, the threat was considered less pressing than those posed by Russia, China, and North Korea. Trump, in his State of the Union address this week, alleged Iran was already developing missiles capable of reaching the U.S., a claim the White House has not substantiated with evidence.

The justification for military action is further complicated by conflicting statements from the Trump administration. The President has at times suggested the goal is to replace the current Iranian leadership with a different hard-line Islamic ruler, while at other times advocating for a transition to democracy. Senator Mark Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, criticized the lack of clarity, stating, “The decision to position American servicemembers in harm’s way demands clarity, consistency, and honesty with Congress and the public. So far, we’ve got none of those things.”

The U.S. Operation was conducted in conjunction with Israel, though the extent of Israel’s involvement has not been fully disclosed. The White House has not responded to requests for further details regarding the sinking of the ten Iranian vessels, nor has it provided information on potential casualties or damage assessments.

Talks between the U.S. And Iran, held in Geneva, Switzerland, concluded on February 26, 2026, the day before Trump’s State of the Union address. The outcome of those talks remains undisclosed, and no further negotiations are currently scheduled.
