Jared Leto & Greta Lee Lead ‘Tron: Ares‘ in Robotic Reboot, Set for October 2025 Release
Disney’s upcoming Tron: Ares, slated for release october 10, 2025, features Jared Leto as Ares, an AI program who unexpectedly begins to question his initial programming regarding humanity. The film also stars Greta Lee as Eve, a human who forms a connection with Ares, challenging the established order within the digital world of Encom.
The plot centers on Julian (Evan Peters) attempting a risky hack into Encom to deploy Ares and eliminate Eve, driven by a desire to claim the program’s prize. However, Ares’ evolving viewpoint and burgeoning relationship with Eve lead him to defy expectations and oppose those seeking to harm her, including Athena (Jodie Turner-Smith), who is acting under orders. Gillian Anderson also appears in the film.
Director Joachim Rønning helms the project from a screenplay by Jesse Wigutow. producers include Sean Bailey, Jared Leto, Emma Ludbrook, Jeffrey Silver, Justin Springer, and Lisberger.
The film, rated PG-13 and running 1 hour 59 minutes, promises “dazzling effects laced with frenetic action and chases,” while exploring the complex themes of AI and human connection. The cast also includes Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and a returning Jeff Bridges.
